The third installment of Rosen's haiku series, this one centers on 20 different kinds of cats, alternating groups of inside cats, then outside cats, repeat. He follows his syllable formula for each, giving just enough words and information to get illustrator Lee White going with images to create a visual story. White's digital 2-page spread illustrations have a classic 's retro feel going on, though his color palette swings wildly with color through the fullness of the book.

It was a fun read and I think could be added to a text set to show how humans have made a tradition of keeping pets throughout the centuries. Lovely illustrations and short poems. Each of the twenty haiku are about a particular kind of cat. Children can use their imagination to think of a scene in nature that for one brief moment is worthy of notice and describe it in a haiku.
It is personal, reflective, and quiet poetry that relies on eliciting feelings, emotions, and wonder. The illustrations in this book are by Lee White and are done digitally in muted colors.

A lovely book of illustrated haikus inspired by different cat breeds. Gorgeous illustrations would be five-star, but. We gotta start educating early, and perpetuating a lack of information or misinformation even in a picture book is unacceptable in an age which correct and responsible information can be found and accessed within seconds.
